Janette Oke - Author of the Month

Our author for this month is Janette Oke.  Though most of Janette's books are officially labeled as "Adult Fiction," they are popular with teens and young adults as well.  Oke writes historical Christian fiction, and the main characters of her novels are typically females.  They struggle through adversity and grow in love and faith.

Oke was born in 1935 in Canada and was raised on a farm.  She did not publish her first book until 1979, but has been a prolific author since - publishing over 75 novels.  That first book - Love Comes Softly - and the other books in the series have been made even more popular by the Hallmark films based on the books starring Katherine Heigl, Dale Midkiff, & others.
